View printableA closer look at smiling cherry cake
Bold black outlines depict a round cake resting on an oval plate. The cake has closed smiling eyes, oval cheeks, and a curved mouth. Dripping icing and horizontal bands decorate its sides. A swirled topping holds sprinkles and a cherry, while hearts and stars float around the dessert.
Before choosing colors, look from the top of the drawing to its lower edge. Notice which outlines enclose large spaces and which surround tiny details. Choose one area that interests you as a starting point. You do not have to color every part or finish the whole page in one session.
Color plans and activities for birthday cake coloring pages
1. Choose a cake flavor palette
Use the long horizontal bands to suggest different cake and filling colors. A light golden layer beside a pink band can suggest a fruit dessert, while brown and cream make a different combination. These are imagined flavors, not ingredients identified by the drawing. Keep the dripping icing distinct from the layer below so its uneven lower edge remains visible.
Try your colors on spare paper before committing to the largest spaces. A light first layer gives you room to deepen one band later without losing the printed smile.
2. Decorate the swirled topping
Start with the cherry at the top, keeping its stem separate from the rounded fruit. Choose a pale color for the swirled topping and brighter shades for the oblong sprinkles. The small outlined shapes within the topping can share those colors or receive contrasting accents. Work around their edges with a pencil rather than trying to cover everything in one stroke.
The cherry can become the strongest red accent on the page. Repeating a little red in the hearts ties the top of the dessert to the surrounding decorations.
3. Match hearts and stars
Find hearts and stars on the cake itself, then look at the shapes floating beside it. Choose one color family for hearts and another for stars. Point to each shape in the actual drawing if you want to count them; there is no need to finish every small motif in one sitting.
Compare the closed curved eyes with the curved mouth. The oval cheeks can receive a faint pink shade while the remaining face area stays light enough for the expression to remain clear.
4. Design a dessert greeting
Imagine that the smiling cake is sending a friendly message. Say a short greeting aloud and choose colors that match its mood. The picture has no candles or written celebration message, so a birthday theme is something you bring to it rather than a detail printed in the scene.
Write a greeting on a separate card and place the finished picture beside it. You can stop after coloring the face and cherry if those are the details you enjoy most; completing the plate and every sprinkle is optional.
Save and print your coloring image
The supplied original measures 736 × 1104 pixels. Use Download Coloring Image to access that WebP file. If the browser opens it instead of saving it, use its save-image option. Keep the original file rather than taking a screenshot of the smaller preview, which may contain less detail.
For printing, choose A4 or US Letter paper and inspect the preview before sending the job. Use fit to page with the original proportions preserved. White margins are normal when the picture and paper have different shapes. Avoid fill or crop settings that remove part of the outline. Enlarging a raster image does not create new detail; a smaller print may keep the lines clearer.
The Print Coloring Page button uses the site’s image-printing integration. If that control is unavailable, open the full-size image and use your browser or image viewer to print the image alone. Check that the preview contains only the drawing rather than the surrounding article, menus, or download panel. Choose paper compatible with both your printer and your coloring materials.
