View printableMeet the shaggy cow
The front-facing cow has a long fringe, curved horns, ears and a rounded muzzle. Its shaggy body ends in short legs and hooves, and a tufted tail appears at one side. The website name is printed below the character. Keep this mark and the full picture visible in the print preview.
The fringe and lower coat are defined by curved, overlapping edges rather than individual hairs. The large coat provides space for broad strokes, while the face and horns reward a smaller pencil. Begin with one feature and leave the rest for later if that suits the activity.
Layer a shaggy coat
Try warm orange, reddish brown or a favorite imaginary color for the coat. Color the fringe with short downward strokes that follow its drawn shape. Use a lighter touch on the muzzle and a contrasting shade for the horns so their outlines stay distinct from the hair.
Test two similar pencils on spare paper, then layer them gently on the body. Stop before the black curves become difficult to see. A darker outline of color along a tuft and a lighter center can suggest texture without adding extra printed details.
Compare horns, ears and fringe
Point to a horn, then an ear, and follow their different curves. The fringe hangs between them over the forehead. Ask which parts are round and which taper at the ends. Look for the tail tuft and compare its outline with the larger coat.
Try a two-color plan: use one shade for all the hair and a second for the horns and hooves. Then use another copy to choose a different plan. Compare the two results and decide which details stand out first; neither is a requirement for completing the page.
Create a cow character
Give the cow a name and imagine what it might do next. A story about a breezy day or meeting a friend is an invented extension of the picture. Write a short caption separately so the face, hooves and source mark remain unobstructed.
The original picture focuses on the cow. If you want a farm setting, draw imaginary grass, a fence or hills around it yourself. These would be new additions rather than details already shown. Choose one addition or leave the background blank to keep attention on the shaggy outline.
Saving and printing the original image
Use Download Coloring Image for the original WebP. If your browser opens the image instead of saving it, use the browser’s save-image command. The Print Coloring Page button uses the site’s printing tool. If that tool is unavailable, open the full-size image and print directly from your browser.
Choose portrait orientation on A4 or US Letter paper, and select fit to page. Check the preview before printing: the complete picture and source marks should remain visible. Preserve proportions instead of stretching the picture across the sheet. Margins vary with the paper and printer, so some white space around the image is normal.
The original measures 1024 × 1606 pixels. Enlarging the image cannot add detail and may soften its lines; a smaller print can appear sharper. Try one copy first. Ordinary printer paper is an option for crayons and pencils. Test markers on spare paper for bleed-through and use only paper supported by your printer.
To choose another character, visit the coloring pages collection. You can also explore the farm animals by a barn picture and compare its group scene with this single character.
