View printableWhat is on this duck with glasses and a head scarf coloring page?
A smiling cartoon duck stands facing forward against a mostly white background. Large round glasses frame its eyes, and a scarf wraps around its head. The scarf is tied at the top, with two pointed ends extending on either side of the knot.
Circular dots decorate the scarf and its tied ends. A small tuft of feathers appears above the duck’s forehead. Its open beak, rounded body, feathered wing, tail and webbed feet create several different areas to color. Fine strokes around the body suggest feathers.
The original image includes small website text near the lower right and the ActivitySmart name beneath the drawing. Before reaching for the pencils, invite your child to find the scarf knot, glasses and wing. They can start with whichever detail interests them.
Five creative ideas for your scarf-wearing duck
1. Design a colorful polka-dot scarf
Pick a main color for the scarf, then choose a contrasting shade for its circular dots. A pale blue scarf with orange dots offers one combination; pink and purple create another. Test the colors on spare paper before filling the larger sections.
Work around the knot at the top and follow the scarf’s curved edges near the face. Your child can give all the dots the same color or alternate between two shades. Leave a few circles white if that makes the pattern easier to see.
2. Give the glasses their own accent color
Choose a bright shade for the large round frames. Red, blue or green can stand out against a lighter scarf. Use a colored pencil around the narrow outlined rims, then follow the bridge between the two lenses.
Keep the eyes and their white highlights visible while coloring around the frames. Your child can match the glasses to the scarf dots or choose a different color. The lenses can remain white so the face stays clear.
3. Choose colors for the duck’s feathers
Try a light yellow body with an orange beak and feet for a familiar cartoon palette. A white or cream body is another option. Use light strokes near the fine feather lines so they remain visible after coloring.
The wing and pointed tail feathers can match the body or receive a slightly darker shade. Your child can also invent a blue or lavender duck. There is no required color scheme for this playful character.
4. Compare circles, curves and pointed shapes
Find the round glasses and compare them with the smaller circular dots on the scarf. Ask your child to point to one large circle and one small circle. Then look at the two pointed ends above the scarf knot.
Choose a small group of visible dots and count each one by pointing. Let your child check the drawing rather than relying on a fixed total. Follow the curved wing edge with a finger held just above the paper, then return to coloring whenever they are ready.
5. Give the duck a name and a story
Ask where the duck might be going in its glasses and scarf. Perhaps it is meeting a friend, visiting a garden or getting ready for a celebration. These are invented ideas inspired by the picture; the illustration does not establish a particular story.
Let your child name the duck and describe what happens first, next and last. An adult can write a short dictated caption on a separate sheet. Place it beside the finished artwork or keep both in an activity folder.
For a second version, print another copy and change the scarf and glasses colors. Compare the two finished pictures and ask which combination your child enjoyed using. Both can become different characters in the same pretend story.
Try a three-color accessory set: choose one shade for the scarf, one for its dots and one for the glasses. Add the duck’s body color whenever your child is ready.
How to save and print the duck picture
- Select Download Coloring Image to access the original WebP file. If it opens in your browser, use the save-image option.
- Select Print Coloring Page to use the site’s image-printing tool. If it is unavailable, open the full-size image and print from your browser.
- Choose portrait orientation and A4 or US Letter paper. Select fit-to-page scaling to preserve the original proportions.
- Check that both scarf ends, the duck’s feet and the text beneath the picture remain visible in the preview.
The original image measures 832 × 1318 pixels. It is narrower than A4 or US Letter paper, so side margins are expected. Preserve the image proportions instead of stretching the duck sideways. Enlarging the image does not add detail and can make the outlines appear softer.
Crayons work well on the broad body areas. Colored pencils offer more control around the scarf dots, glasses and fine feather lines. Test markers on spare paper and place a protective sheet underneath. Print one test copy before preparing several sheets.
For another duck activity, visit the duck with a rain umbrella coloring page. Compare the scarf and glasses with the umbrella, or browse more coloring pages to choose another character.
