View printableA closer look at unicorn above a rainbow
Black-and-white line art shows a unicorn with a striped horn, flowing mane, curved tail, and raised front legs. A broad rainbow arches beneath it between two clouds. Additional clouds, outlined stars, small solid sparkles, and a star-tipped wand fill the surrounding space.
Before choosing colors, look from the top of the drawing to its lower edge. Notice which outlines enclose large spaces and which surround tiny details. Choose one area that interests you as a starting point. You do not have to color every part or finish the whole page in one session.
Color plans and activities for unicorn coloring pages
1. Plan a rainbow palette
Lay your pencils in the order you want to use them before filling the rainbow. Follow each curved band from one cloud toward the other, changing colors at the drawn boundaries. You can use a familiar rainbow sequence or invent your own pastel arrangement. Leave the clouds white, or shade their lower edges very lightly so the arch remains the strongest color in the lower half.
Compare the long rainbow bands with the short sections of the striped horn. Repeat some rainbow shades in the horn to connect the two areas without making every part identical.
2. Give the mane a rhythm
The mane and tail have flowing, separate sections that can carry alternating colors. Try lavender beside pale blue, then choose one of those shades for the tail. Keep the body a quieter color if you want the hair to stand out. The black eye already provides a strong facial feature; there is no need to color over it.
Add an invented pattern of small dots on the body only if you want to change the original plain spaces. Such dots are your own decoration, rather than markings already drawn on the unicorn.
3. Find different kinds of stars
Look around the unicorn for outlined stars, solid sparkles, and the star at the end of the wand. Point to each kind before choosing a color. The solid black shapes will stay dark, while the outlined shapes leave room for yellow, pink, or another contrasting shade. Count from the actual picture if you want a counting game, checking each shape once.
Compare the wand’s straight shaft with the curved rainbow and the rounded cloud edges. Trace these paths with a hovering finger, then choose one path to color first.
4. Tell a wand story
Imagine whether the wand has just made the rainbow appear or whether the unicorn is discovering it. Neither explanation is fixed by the drawing. Give the character a name and describe what it might do next with its raised front legs. An adult can write the story on separate paper so the illustration remains open for coloring.
If you add a castle or a moon later, explain that it is an imagined addition. The original picture contains a unicorn, rainbow, clouds, stars, sparkles, and a wand.
Save and print your coloring image
The supplied original measures 736 × 1104 pixels. Use Download Coloring Image to access that WebP file. If the browser opens it instead of saving it, use its save-image option. Keep the original file rather than taking a screenshot of the smaller preview, which may contain less detail.
For printing, choose A4 or US Letter paper and inspect the preview before sending the job. Use fit to page with the original proportions preserved. White margins are normal when the picture and paper have different shapes. Avoid fill or crop settings that remove part of the outline. Enlarging a raster image does not create new detail; a smaller print may keep the lines clearer.
The Print Coloring Page button uses the site’s image-printing integration. If that control is unavailable, open the full-size image and use your browser or image viewer to print the image alone. Check that the preview contains only the drawing rather than the surrounding article, menus, or download panel. Choose paper compatible with both your printer and your coloring materials.
